Leo New Moon 2024

The Leo Full Moon 2024 falls on August 4th the same day that Mercury Stations Retrograde in Virgo and Venus ingresses (moves into) Virgo. A busy day astrologically. It is hard to talk about just one of the events on August 4th. They are all important in their own way. I feel that they are informing each other and dancing together.

I encourage you to take time at this New Moon, or the next few days following the Leo New Moon. Write down what you would like to bring into your life or manifest. This time expand the time line, three, five, or ten years. Don’t worry about the how. Write down what you would like to see, do, and experience in the future. Light a candle, listen to music you enjoy. Do it with a friend or a group of friends. Sit on your deck and breath in the fresh air or go to a park you like. Be creative and have fun with it. Use colored pencils or pen if you like. Make a vision board.

The New Moon takes place at 4:13 am PDT, Seattle, WA and 7:13 am EDT. Venus enters Virgo at 7:23 pm PDT and 10:23 pm EDT. Mercury Stations Retrograde at 9:56 pm PDT and on August 5th at 12:56 am EDT.

Sabian Symbols

KEYNOTE: An objective and critical approach to the common factors in our culture and to its psychological problems.
Key Phrase: Level of INTELLECTUALIZATION. (objective mind and emotional participant). Makes concrete what to most people may be only a subconscious aspiration or urge.

The Now: CANCER 24°: A WOMAN & TWO MEN CASTAWAYS ON A SMALL ISLAND OF THE SOUTH SEAS.
KEYNOTE: The focalization of complex inner potentialities in harmonic and concrete relationships.
The woman & the two men represent the three-fold aspect of the human personality, — the emotional life (the woman) — is facing the possibility, if not the inevitability, of relating itself to both the spiritual & the mental. Somehow the three-fold consciousness has to develop a harmonious & well-integrated modus vivendi (a specific way of life).
The three human beings should become integrated; but the form this integration will take seems left open. It has to be a concrete type of integration in terms of the emotional &biological drives of human nature (an island of the South Seas) & the field of integration is “small.”
Key Phrase: The key to the problem of relationship should be the realization of INTER-DEPENDENCE.

What comes next – CANCER 25°: A WILL-FULL MAN IS OVERSHADOWED BY A DESCENT OF SUPERIOR POWER.
KEYNOTE: The response of spiritual forces to the integration of personality through positive will-full endeavors.
We are dealing here with a man who uses his will & positive imagination in facing his life problems. He receives the “mantle of power,” the grace (baraka in Sufi philosophy) or the Providential assistance which can make him a true leader in his culture.
Key Phrase: Merely external success , but a spiritual response, a sign of inner strength & uncommon ENDOWMENT.

Sabian Symbols for the Mid Heaven – MC

Leading up to the New Moon – PISCES 29°: LIGHT BREAKING INTO MANY COLORS THROUGH A PRISM.
KEYNOTE: The analytical power of the mind necessary for the formulation of life processes in their many aspects.
Key Phrase: Existence implies DIFFERENTIATION.

Now – PISCES 30°: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, & AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT.
KEYNOTE: The power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer.
Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story “The Great Stone Face” is used here in an allegorical sense to show the capacity for self-transformation latent in man. This power can be developed through visualization, when the emotions & the will are poured into the visualized mental image.
Keyword: ARCHETYPALIZATION.

ARIES 1°: A WOMAN JUST RISEN FROM THE SEA. A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.
KEYNOTE: Emergence of new forms & of the potentiality of consciousness.
To be individually conscious means to emerge out of the sea of generic & collective consciousness — which to the emerged mind appears to be unconsciousness. Emerging from a womb or matrix, here symbolized by the sea.
Having to pierce through the crust of the soil still covered with the remains of the past.
The woman is seen embraced by a seal because the seal is a mammal which once had experienced a biological, evolutionary but relatively unconscious emergence, yet which retraced its steps &”returned to the womb” of the sea. The seal, therefore, represents a regressive step. It embraces the Woman who has emerged, because every emergent process at first is susceptible to failure.
The possibility of success & failure is implied throughout the entire process of actualization.
Key Word: IMPULSE TO BE.

Leading up to the New Moon – LEO 12: AN EVENING PARTY OF ADULTS ON A LAWN ILLUMINED BY FANCY LANTERNS.
KEYNOTE: Group-relaxation in fashionable surroundings as an escape from work routine.
Reaching a stage of SOPHISTICATION & involvement in externals & superficial intellectuality or wit.

Now – LEO 13°: AN OLD SEA CAPTAIN ROCKING HIMSELF ON THE PORCH OF HIS COTTAGE.
KEYNOTE: The quieted mind’s recollections of crises & joys long past.
The sea captain has steered the ship of his ego-consciousness through seas & storms, maintaining the integrity of his individual selfhood while in close contact with the collective Unconscious.
